The Casa de la Media Luna, which belongs to a private community of six villas, is located at an elevated plain surrounded by volcanic mountains and rocks, in front of the Mediterranean sea and 250 metres away from the Cabo de Gata lighthouse, the landmark spot of the natural park. Within a three minute walk (at a 100 metres distance) from the house, we go down to the welcoming Corralete beach, popularly known as the Lighthouse Beach (Playa del Faro), composed of sand and crystal-clear water, girdled by rocky cliffs, natural habitat of seagulls and other characteristic fauna.

Right on the same rock where the lighthouse erects, we can admire the captivating beauty of the Mermaids Reef (Arrecife de las Sirenas), where volcanic rocks conquer space to the sea, sea and land mingling in absolute harmony. Following north from the reef, the coastline breaks in diverse coves and intimate beaches such as Cala Arena,Cala Rajá,Cala Vela Blanca etc. All this area is within walking distance from the house as well.

Less than 100 metres from the house, we find the Bar-Restaurante El Faro, managed by descendants of original inhabitants of this place. Here, you may taste exquisite paellas, Moorish tea at sunset and be pleased with the friendly, attentive service at the magnificent views terrace.

The closest village to the house is La Almadraba de Monteleva (Las Salinas), at 3 kms. Passing this town and at 8 kms. from the house, we arrive to San Miguel de Cabo de Gata village, a more populated town which offers several services, such as a market, a health centre, a pharmacy, a bank branch with ATM, a small library, a couple of hair salons, a cyber cafe with a mini-video store and some restaurants and cafeterias, as well as a couple of small super markets. A flea market is held on Saturday mornings.
"Dawning behind the Testa hill, which majestically, seems to be guarding this coast, historically frequented by pirates. We are at the Lighthouse beach and towards the east, we gaze at a unique natural spectacle: the Mermaids Reef(.) These lands surprise by the beauty of its beaches, the transparency of its waters and their marvellous sea bottoms. Finding ourselves here is being witness of a natural window to the open sea, exquisite balcony over the old and wise Mare Nostrum, that delights our eyesight and comforts the spirit, all in all, an oasis of peace and calm." Pedro Mena Enciso, Spanish author.
