The Casa de la Media Luna, which belongs to a private community of six villas, is located at an elevated plain surrounded by volcanic mountains and rocks, in front of the Mediterranean sea and 250 metres away from the Cabo de Gata lighthouse, the landmark spot of the natural park. Within a three minute walk (at a 100 metres distance) from the house, we go down to the welcoming Corralete beach, popularly known as the Lighthouse Beach), (Playa del Faro), composed of sand and crystal-clear water, girdled by rocky cliffs, a natural habitat of seagulls and other characteristic fauna.
Right on the same rock where the lighthouse stands, we can admire the captivating beauty of the Mermaids Reef (Arrecife de las Sirenas), where volcanic rocks conquer the sea, which allows sea and land to mingle in absolute harmony. Continuing north from the reef, the coastline breaks into diverse coves and intimate beaches such as Cala Arena, Cala Rajá, Cala Vela Blanca…etc. All this area is also within walking distance from the house.
Beach at 100m from the house
Less than 100 metres from the house, we find the Bar-Restaurante El Faro, managed by descendants of original local inhabitants. Here, you may taste exquisite paellas, Moorish tea at sunset and enjoy the friendly, attentive service on the terrace with magnificent views.
